NEIGHBORHOOD BENCHES (NB) educate young people on leadership and good practices that break cycles of youth violence and incarceration. In underrepresented neighborhoods, with the help of directly impacted people, NB is teaching young people to act as leaders for finding solutions and implementing them.
A key aim of Neighborhood Benches Initiatives are to reduce early exposure to violence and incarceration whenever possible and to utilize appropriate neighborhood interventions to mitigate the impact of the two. The solutions offered are roadmaps for directly impacted people to practice the modeling of changed behaviors that build up the positive strengths of themselves, others and the community.
